Vice President Albert Gore Jr.
weighed in recently on one of the most controversial of scientific
questions: is there a specific gene that causes homosexuality?
Canadian researchers report that after extensive study, they
have found no evidence to suggest a genetic explanation for homosexuality.
Their research contradicts earlier studies by American researchers
that seemed to suggest such "gay genes" do exist.
Following the release of the Canadian research, reporters traveling
with the vice president thought they would have a little fun
and ask the vice president whether he thought there were gay
genes. It is well-known among veteran Gore-watchers that the
vice president considers himself an expert in such scientific
fields as climatology, geology, astrophysics, biotechnology,
astrology, numerology, UFOlogy, etc.
Asked directly if there were such things as gay genes, the vice
president paused, put on that condescending demeanor which indicates
he is about to deliver his pronouncement on the subject, and
stated, "Well, of course there are gay genes. Ever heard
of Calvin Klein's?"
Reporters present agreed he had a point and decided not to report
the incident. |
